Where is the narrowest alley in Italy?
This is one of the records which Rejecelle, Città della Pieve and San Giorgio Morgeto are competing for. We are more than sure, instead, that it belongs to a small village in the Marches.
It is called Ripatransone and it is located in the province of Ascoli Piceno. One of the things you should see in this wonderful town is this small road just 43 cm large. The structure of the road is irregular and the mid-point measures 38 cm. If you are wondering if it is possible to cross it, we answer immediately: of course.
43 cm correspond more or less to the height of the shoulders of a man of average height. In the narrowest part it reaches 38 centimetres, so you will have to do some operations, but it will be easy. Once you have completed the mission, you should go to the tourist office that will issue the certificate stating the crossing of the narrowest alley in Italy. Even if it dates back to a very remote period, it was discovered in 1968 when the measurement of all the alleys of the old town was carried out by professor Antonio Giannetti.
What should you know before visiting this place? Well, it is located in the middle of the Belvedere del Piceno where are stunning views are. It has very ancient origins and was known as “Le Ripe”, a place between Fermo and Ascoli Piceno. In this area there are many places to visit (monuments and churches) and you can eat very well because an excellent wine and an excellent olive oil are produced there.
